The story of Purrsl begins with a timid tabby cat named Leo and his human companion. Leo's world was small, yet this tiny realm was often disrupted by the clamor of the outside world—thunder outside the window, the sudden ring of the doorbell, even the sound of neighbors moving in—all enough to send him scurrying under the sofa. With flattened ears and a trembling body, he expressed his silent fear.
We could sense Leo's unease—that deep, inarticulate anxiety like a tiny thorn lodged in her heart. She longed to give Leo a “portable” hug, a token that would offer Leo a sense of safety and comfort whether she was present or not.
We tried every method we could think of: gentle soothing, calming music, tasty treats... but these only brought brief moments of peace.
During an in-depth conversation with a veterinarian, we first learned about the role of “feline pheromones”—chemical signals secreted by cats to mark “safe territories” and convey the message “this place is safe.” When cats rub their cheeks against people or furniture, they are leaving these “happy marks,” expressing “I'm here, and I feel secure.”
This discovery gave us inspiration: If we can extract this natural "cat language" and release it in a convenient, long-lasting and non-invasive way, wouldn't it be possible to provide a continuous "safety signal"?
Thus, Purrsl was born.
This name blends the gentle rhythm of “Purr” (the contented purring of a cat) with “Lull” (soothing, lullaby). We envision it not merely as a product, but as a vessel for conveying love.
After countless experiments, we finally created this unique soothing patch. We successfully replicated the crucial F3 pheromone found on a cat's face and concentrated it into a small, skin-friendly patch.
From helping Leo overcome his fear of thunderstorms, Purrsl's founding mission remains unchanged.
